Fishing on the Trent

Paddle Name: Fishing on the Trent

Display Location: River’s Edge on Front

Artist Name: Lori Fife

Medium: Acrylic

Artist Bio:

I live in Hastings along the Trent Severn Waterway.  I am retired, so have time to watch the boats go by.  I especially enjoy the early mornings when all is quiet but the birds.

Art and painting is my all consuming pastime.  If I’m not painting, I’m thinking and planning the  next project.

The river provides wildlife to observe, deer, fox, herons, osprey, otters, turtles and the odd beaver.  It is all so beautiful and inspirational.  I love painting animals and birds.  I have captured our resident Blue Heron several times.  I have kayaked over to take photos of him and he models and preens.

Oils is my main medium, but will work in acrylics when drying time is shorter.  I began over 30 years ago.  I take on commissions and teach an oil painting class to very talented students,  from beginners to intermediate.

Paddle Description:

This design is my original work, inspired by many local Blue Herons.  It has been painted in acrylics to speed drying time. I am honoured to paint this majestic creature. I tried to capture it’s elegance.
