Enjoy Fenelon Falls’ eclectic downtown and natural beauty with this easygoing itinerary
Fenelon Falls is the perfect cottage town, a hub of vibrant and varied activity nestled in the quiet beauty of the Kawartha Lakes landscape. Of course, the Trent-Severn Waterway has a lot to do with that. With the suggestions below, you’ll find a selection of attractions all within walking distance of Lock 34. Options include galleries and restaurants, shops and museums, not to mention the unique sights along Fenelon Falls’ shoreline.
To see these location on a map, jump to the Trip Planner below.

Start your day at the White Cottage Cafe. Grab yourself a coffee or a shake and a homemade pastry to enjoy on the large rear patio, or enjoy the chic interior. This is an excellent stop if you are traveling by bike as well.
Once you’ve fuelled up for the morning, the White Cottage Cafe is only steps from one of Fenelon Falls’ premier home goods stores. Browse the Barn and Bunkie’s tastefully curated selection of items that ranges from garden accessories to jewelry to furniture.
This historic 1837 building on the shore of Cameron Lake is a treasure trove of community history. Browse historical artifacts, take part in interactive exhibits, and keep an eye on the Lodge’s calendar for special events.
After a tour of Maryboro Lodge Museum, take in the fresh air and bright colours of the community gardens just outside its doors. The Fenelon Falls Horticultural Society lovingly maintains a series of public gardens that beautify the already picturesque Garnet Graham Beach Park.
Speaking of the beach, Maryboro Lodge Museum is within sight of the sandy public swimming area. Families can enjoy the splash pad, playground, beach volleyball court, or just take a moment to lounge in the sun.

When you return your bike to the rack, don’t forget to look across the Waterway. On the opposite shore you’ll notice Fenelon Falls’ answer to the iconic Jelly Bean Row in St. John’s Newfoundland. These colourful buildings bring a touch of maritime character to the town. While you’re in the Water/Oak St. area, take a moment to snap a photo with the classic Fenelon Theatre marquee too.
At 10 Water St., this friendly business is a great place to grab an ice cream cone. You can take it to the Lock 34 greenspace and watch the boats go by, and enjoy the above attractions awhile longer.
If you have a taste for craft brews, the local Fenelon Falls Brewing Co. is ideally located. Sample the varied beer selection in the upstairs taproom overlooking the lock and savour the atmosphere of the brewery’s 200-year-old historic building.
All the recommendations above, and we still haven’t mentioned Fenelon Falls’ busy downtown—take a stroll down Colborne St. and browse away an hour or two. Fenelon has some great local clothing boutiques, such as BÉS Fifty Seven and The Butterfly Boutique. If you’re shopping for unique gifts, the Colborne St Gallery and curious? are well worth a visit. See our directory for a complete list of Trail-Town Friendly businesses.
As the day wears on, you’ll want to choose from Fenelon Falls’ many dinner options. For an outdoor meal in view of the lock, try Murphy’s Lockside Pub and Patio. A generous amount of outdoor seating make this a comfortable, sunny spot to take a pre-show meal.
The Grove Theatre is an outdoor ampitheatre where you can watch some of Canada’s biggest names perform under the stars. Each season features a winning blend of music, theatre, and comedy acts to provide a memorable finale to your day trip in Fenelon Falls.
